Optical biometry (OB) is a high accurate, repeatable and non-invasive method for tracking:

  • Axial length which is a key factor in myopia control and assessing which pediatric patients may be at higher risk for needing glasses in the future.
  • Corneal topography to detect and monitor conditions like keratoconus, refractive surgery or after corneal damage due to injury or infection.
  • Dynamic pupillometry for patients with neurologic conditions that affect pupillary function or patients using atropine as part of their myopia control plan.
  • Corneal fit of rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

OB is not an insured service through provincial health insurance (OHIP) for any patient but Dr. Saari does provide OB at no additional charge for NEW patients at their initial exam to better understand the patient’s ocular health and future risk.
